Hundreds of US cities vie to host Amazon’s new headquarters

More than 200 cities are bidding to host the company’s office. But some critics doubt it will bring real, positive change for those with lower incomes.

Online retailer Amazon has its headquarters in the US city of Seattle. But the company, which ships 1.6 million packages a day, is expanding and looking to open a second office in the US, that promises to bring lots of economic benefits to the selected city, including tens of thousands of new jobs and a $5bn investment.
