Jeff Sessions says he forgot about Russia meeting

Evidence given by staffers ‘reminds’ Sessions that he was aware of meetings between Trump campaign staffers and Russians claiming to represent the Kremlin.

The US Attorney General has denied on Tuesday that he had lied in his testimony in last month’s congressional hearing.

Speaking before a congressional committee on Tuesday as part of the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential elections, Sessions adamantly denied being involved in any wrongdoing.

To explain his previous statements that there had been no contact between Trump campaign staffers and Russian officials, Jeff Sessions said that he had simply forgotten that he had been told by a staffer about a meeting with purported Russian officials.
