Theresa May says the UK needs to stay in the single market, under its current terms, at least during that time, to make the process easier. European leaders have given her speech mixed reviews. While the European Union’s chief negotiator welcomed her quote ‘constructive spirit’, the French president says May needs to urgently clarify her position, or talks cannot go ahead.
