North Korea has defiantly dismissed threats from Donald Trump, saying the US president’s warning of fire and fury is nonsense and would be met with absolute force.

Pyongyang says it is finalising a plan to attack the waters near the US territory of Guam with four missiles, initially flying over Japan.

The Japanese government says it could legally intercept any missile in its airspace.
