HR McMaster, the US national security adviser, says he is not worried by reports that US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law had tried to set up a secret communication line with Russia.

The Washington Post says Jared Kushner, who is currently a senior adviser to Trump, was hoping to shield pre-inauguration discussions from US monitoring.

The reports came amid an investigation over the Trump campaign’s alleged ties to Moscow that could have played a part in his election victory.
