Athens’ long-awaited Acropolis Museum is now open, a move Greece hopes will put pressure on Britain to return statues removed from the Parthenon 200 years ago.
Known as the Elgin Marbles, the statues remain on display in the British Museum in London having been sold to the museum in 1817.
But, as Al Jazeera’s Barnaby Phillips reports from Athens, there is no sign the 200-year-old dispute is going to be resolved any time soon.
