 Many Indian candidates face criminal charges 
 

Almost a quarter of the winners in India’s 2004 elections faced criminal charges.

Of those, 84 were cases of murder, 17 faced charges of robbery, and 28 were accused of theft and extortion.

As Al Jazeera’s Matt McClure has been finding out, it’s a theme that’s returned this election season.
