Barack Obama, the US president, has held key talks with Dimitry Medvedev, his Russian counterpart, at the G20 summit in London.
Both sides have indicated they are ready to start rebuilding US-Russian relations but suspicion remains, with the Kremlin making no secret of its plans to beef up its own military power.
