Daoud Khan, a former Afghan president, credited with turning Afghanistan into a democracy, was killed more than three decades ago in a Soviet-backed coup.

Now, 31 years after his death, Afghanistan has honoured him with a state funeral, a year after his remains were found.

Al Jazeera’s James Bays reports on the ceremony from Kabul.
