When oil was found in Mauritania less than a decade ago, foreign investors led people to believe that the discovery would bring an end to poverty.
But some main contractors have left and, as Al Jazeera’s Mohamed Vall reports from the capital Nouakchott, the west African nation is spending more on oil imports than it is earning from exports.
