Afghanistan’s president, Hamid Karzai, has welcomed the swearing-in of Barack Obama as the new US president, saying he hopes for a “promising new era of understanding” between the two countries.
But the Afghan people are less interested in diplomatic matters and more concerned about the high unemployment and lack of electricity, as Al Jazeera’s Teresa Bo reports.
