#AddJihadiToAnything mocks newspaper for its description of leftist armed group

The Jerusalem Post catches backlash for describing an armed group as ‘secular jihadist’.

A leading Israeli newspaper is being ridiculed for how it described the armed wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), a secular Palestinian organisation. Reporting that the armed group is building tunnels in the blockaded Gaza Strip, the Jerusalem Post referred to them in the article as a “secular jihadist group”, and later in a tweet as “secular Jihadi”.

“Jihad” is a broad religious concept in Islam which means “righteous struggle”, but which is often mis-associated exclusively with religiously-motivated armed activity. The Jerusalem Post’s use of the phrase “secular jihadi” struck many as an obvious contradiction:
