500 days of #BringBackOurGirls

The campaign to keep Nigeria’s kidnapped Chibok girls in the global consciousness.

When Nigeria’s Chibok girls were kidnapped in April 2014, the international outcry sparked one of the most formidable social media campaigns of the year. World leaders and celebrities from around the globe jumped on to #BringBackOurGirls, the rallying cry for the more than 200 youth abducted by Boko Haram.

Five hundred days after their kidnapping, The Stream spoke with one of the many activists still pushing to keep the girls in the public eye. Every day that the girls remain missing, Bukky Shonibare tweets a picture as a solemn reminder of the work still to be done to bring them home.
