
Student suicide sparks rally at Taiwan’s education ministry
Activists stage sit-in to honour protest leader in fight against government’s ‘China-centric’ school curriculum.
Taiwanese students have staged a sit-in outside of the country’s ministry of education following a student leader’s suicide. Twenty-year-old Lin Kuan-hua was found dead in his New Taipei City home on Thursday, his birthday.
As news of his death spread, student protesters set up camp in the capital, demanding government officials take responsibility for his death.
