
Tweeting from the Red Planet
The Stream speaks to some of the minds behind @MarsCuriosity.
The Mars Curiosity Rover is the internet’s favourite space probe. It’s been where no human has been before – the surface of the Red Planet – and its stream of social media updates has earned it millions of fans.
But @MarsCuriosity’s 140-character tweets can only tell so much. To get beyond the character limit, The Stream’s Malika Bilal spoke to two of the women responsible for Curiosity’s social media domination: the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s social media manager Veronica McGregor and social media specialist Stephanie Smith.
