Lebanese push to take back parliament

As scheduled elections near, activists say #NoToExtension during Beirut protest.

Lebanese activists have taken to the streets of Beirut on Thursday to demonstrate against the possibility of another parliamentary term extension. In 2013, the current parliament extended its four-year-term for the first time in decades, citing security concerns as the reason behind the move. Since then, protests against the decision have been ongoing. Elections are scheduled for November, but many fear they will be postponed.
