More than a number: Humanising Palestine
The Stream speaks with the creator of a website that memorialises those killed in Palestine.
Humanize Palestine is attempting to put a name and face to more than 1,100 Palestinians killed during the Israeli offensive in Gaza, and violence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Launched after the kidnapping and murder of Mohammad Abu Khdeir on July 2, it has since shared the stories of more than 165 victims, partially through crowd-sourcing.
Created by Bayan Abusneineh and Dana Saifan, Palestinians living in California, the website reflects the “stories, dreams and aspirations” of those who have died. Abusneineh sat down with The Stream’s Digital Producer Omar Baddar to discuss the project.
