Syrian activists reported heavy fighting in Homs and across the country on Friday, leading Syrians around the world to protest outside their embassies.

Russia and China vetoed the Arab League’s plan at the UN Security Council on Saturday morning, drawing heavy criticism from US Ambassador Rice, who said the US was “disgusted” that the UNSC had “been held hostage by a couple of members for months.” The day before the vote was marked by reported heavy fighting in Homs and across Syria, which led Syrians on Twitter to call for protests outside their embassies around the world.
