Ban Ki-Moon, the UN secretary-general, was in Madrid to speak at the two-day forum of the Alliance of Civilisations, a joint Spanish-Turkish initiative backed by the United Nations.
Ban believes that the world is suffering from mistrust and cross-cultural conflicts, but that the best way to remedy the situation is through further dialogue.
