Multiple front lines in fight against ISIL in Syria’s Deir Az Zor

The Syrian army has broken ISIL‘s siege of an airbase south of Deir Az Zor, while the Syrian Democratic Forces, backed by the United States, are attacking from the north of the city.

So far, the rival campaigns have mostly stayed out of each other’s way.
