Mandela Washington Fellowship 2017: Young African leaders gather in Washington

    Nearly 1,000 young Africans have gathered in Washington, DC, under the banner of the Mandela Washington Fellowship.

    The scheme to groom the best and brightest from the continent was launched by Barack Obama, former US president.

    It is part of a state department project and comes at a time of budget cuts under the Trump administration.
