Thousands of Syrians remain trapped inside the city of Raqqa, the self-proclaimed capital of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group.

    With the group's Iraq stronghold in Mosul gone, a final battle for Raqqa is expected to be extremely fierce.
