Syrian rebels storm Deraa prison

Rebel fighters have released prisoners at Gharz Central Prison, believed to hold political prisoners.

Rebel fighters have taken control of Deraa Central Prison- also known as Gharz Prison- after a week long campaign, according to rebel forces.

Rebels targeted the jail because it was believed to hold political prisoners, and was an army base. Both rebels and Syrian army troops were killed in the battle.
