Yemen struggles to rebuild recaptured region

Aid agencies have stepped in to help cash-strapped government to rebuild former al-Qaeda stronghold of Abyan.

The province of Abyan in Yemen was under al-Qaeda’s control for almost a year.

It was retaken by government forces, but many were killed, thousands fled and buildings were destroyed.

International aid agencies are stepping in to help cash-strapped government to rebuild the former al-Qaeda stronghold.
