Hamas-run schools in Gaza teach Hebrew

Hamas makes Hebrew compulsory, saying it is important to understand language of occupier, Israel.

Thousands of students in Gaza have started to learn Hebrew, which is now a compulsory subject for grade 10 students at state schools.

The Hamas government said it is important to understand the language of Israelis.

But with Gaza under an Israeli siege for almost seven years now, there is little chance the young students will ever be able to visit Israel to speak it.
