Lebanon fears that situation in neighbouring country could push region into deeper turmoil.

    The Lebanese government was against Syria's suspension from the Arab League, and that decision increased tension between many of Lebanon's pro- and anti-Syrian government groups.

    There have been increasing warnings by the government that the Syrian situation could cast the region into deeper turmoil.
