Putin backs Ukraine peace plan

Russian President Vladimir Putin backs his Ukrainian counterpart's ceasefire plan to end crisis in eastern Ukraine.

    Vladimir Putin is backing a peace plan put forward by Ukraine to end violence in eastern parts of the country.

    The Russian president spoke to Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko about resolving the crisis.

    But it is unlikely that many pro-Russia fighters will put down their arms.
