US and EU consider financial punishments on Russia - a move the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, says will backfire.

    Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that any sanctions the West places on his country will backfire.

    Both the EU and US are considering financial punishments, while the UK appears to be taking a more cautious approach.
