High hopes for Italy’s youngest PM-in-waiting

Matteo Renzi tries to shore up support for new coalition as he awaits appointment by President Napolitano.

Matteo Renzi is poised to win the nomination to become Italy’s next prime minister after Enrico Letta was forced to resign by his centre-left Democratic Party.

He would be the country’s youngest prime minister, if his appointment is confirmed by President Giorgio Napolitano.
