Opposition figure Alexei Navalny, who played key role in anti-government protests, faces fraud charges.

    One of Russia's main opposition figures has gone on trial, accused of fraud.

    Alexei Navalny played a key role in protests against President Vladimir Putin last year. 

    Navalny has said the charges are false, and part of a Kremlin plot to silence him.
