French mayor on hunger strike over funding

Stephane Gatignon is camping outside parliament, demanding state funds for the poor town of Sevran.

    The mayor of one of France's poorest towns is staging his own protest outside parliament in Paris, urging the government to increase funding for poor urban areas.

    Stephane Gatignon says Sevran, just outside the capital, is heading for bankruptcy and needs funds urgently.

    Al Jazeera’s Charlie Angela reports from Sevran.
