Italy's former prime minister in court

Berlusconi has made a rare court appearance to deny having an intimate relationship with a 17-year-old prostitute.

Italy's former prime minister has made a rare court appearance to deny some of the most serious charges against him.

Silvio Berlusconi resigned last November over the country's economic crisis.

But he is still fighting allegations of paying an under-age Moroccan prostitute for sex when she was 17 years old. Berlusconi insists he has never had an intimate relationship with Karima El Mahroug, also know as Ruby the heart stealer, and says he was sure she was 24.
