Afghan child bride tortured for six months

Fifteen-year-old Sahar Gul was tortured by in-laws after trying to run away from her husband.

An Afghan child bride is recovering in hospital after being held captive and tortured for six months by her husband's family.

While her case is extreme, it is still often acceptable in Afghan culture for a husband to hit his wife.

Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith reports from Kabul.

Some viewers may find images in the report disturbing.
