Australian navy in drug scandal

Investigations launched into claims of navy personnel abusing privileged access to smuggle drugs into Sydney.

    The Australian navy has become embroiled in an embarrassing drugs scandal.

    Investigators have begun investigating 17 Australian Defence Force personnel for allegedly running a drugs ring a drugs ring out of their base near the Harbour Bridge.

    Navy personnel are being accused of using their unrestricted access to Sydney Harbour to smuggle drugs into the city.

    Al Jazeera's Andrew Thomas reports from Sydney.
