US agency defends 'Cuban Twitter'

Agency for International Development boss tells Senate "ZunZuneo" was not created to undermine Cuban government.

    The chief of the US Agency for International Development has said its creation of a controversial social network dubbed "Cuban Twitter" was not designed to create dissent.

    Rajiv Shah faced questions from the Senate on Tuesday, as he explained the purpose of the site.

    USAID has long held close ties with spy agencies.
