Beatles fans mark 50 years on first US visit

Legendary band from Liverpool was as excited as their fans to arrive in the US, the country of many of their heroes.

    It was 50 years ago when the Beatles first arrived in the United States. Beatlemania was in its prime as the music chart-toppers brought a new era of pop music to adoring screaming fans.

    It was the start of what became known as the British Invasion in America.

    Al Jazeera's Kristen Saloomey in New York takes a look back at one of the most celebrated bands in history.
