Actress Shirley Temple dies

Former Hollywood child star Shirley Temple has died at the age of 85 in California.

    Former Hollywood child star Shirley Temple has died.

    Curly-haired Temple had her first flim role at the age of three. During the Great Depression she was the country's top box office draw and is still the youngest person to receive an Academy Award.

    In later life she carved out a successful career in politics, serving as US ambassador to both Ghana and Czechoslovakia.
