US museum gains attention for Bacon display

The Portland Art Museum is currently displaying a work by Francis Bacon that sold for $142m at auction.

The Portland Art Museum in the US has garnered international attention by displaying a three-panel Francis Bacon work, the highest price ever paid for a painting in an auction.

Elaine Wynn, co-founder of the Wynn Casino Empire, paid $142m for Bacon’s “Three Studies of Lucian Freud.”

Initially the name of the buyer was not revealed.
