US activists pay tribute to global icon

Before opinion shifted, Mandela - who was removed from terrorist watch list of US only in 2008 - was not liked there.

    As activists in the US pay tributes to the deceased South African statesman Nelson Mandela, it is worth recalling that for decades, the US was steadfast in its support of the apartheid government. Experts say it all changed when activists and legislators saw videos of what was really happening in the country.
