Ex-S Africa minister reflects on Mandela
Pik Botha was a champion of Mandela’s imprisonment before joining team that negotiated with the statesman’s ANC party.

Pik Botha, South Africa’s longest serving foreign minister, who spent much of his career justifying Nelson Mandela’s continued imprisonment, then was a key member of the team that negotiated with Mandela’s African National Congress. He subsequently joined the ANC.
Botha reflects on the anti-apartheid icon, who passed away on Thursday, in an interview to Al Jazeera’s Mike Hanna.
