Floating US military base to tackle Iran

Ageing transport ship being converted into mothership for commandos ready for action in the Middle East.

    The US will deploy its first floating military base to the waters in the Middle East with the purpose of combating the threat emanating from Iran.

    But the Pentagon is modifying the operation to cope with an uncertain mission that includes targeting al-Qaeda and the sting of recent budget cuts.
