US politicians remain split over debt plan

Majority leader Harry Reid now has a chance to push a revised version of his debt plan.


    The Democratic-controlled Senate has killed the Republican bill which was passed by the House of Representatives within two hours.

    It now gives the majority leader Harry Reid a chance to push a revised version of his debt plan.

    But the two sides still remain far from a deal.

    Al Jazeera's Rosiland Jordan reports from Capitol Hill on a day of tension.
