TV satirists host Rally to Restore Sanity to take the heat out of an ill-tempered political climate.

Tens of thousands turned out at the National Mall in Washington to show their support for what was billed as a "Rally to Restore Sanity".

TV comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert hosted the event on Saturday, aimed at taking some of the heat out of America's ill-tempered political climate.
