Gas exploitation angers residents

Shale gas production in Texas causes environmental damage, campaigners say.

As BP and US authorities struggle to cope with the environmental impact of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, other energy companies are accused of ignoring concerns over the exploitation of another resource elsewhere in the country.

Residents in one are of Texas have been fighting a process to extract natural gas from underground shale rock, saying it is polluting the air and waterways.
