A doctor from the Democratic Republic of Congo has been honoured for his work with victims of sexual assault.
Denis Mukwege was awarded the Sakharov Prize For Freedom of Thought at a ceremony in Strasbourg.
The gynaecologist runs a hospital in the city of Bukavu that helps thousands of rape victims who have suffered severe or permanent injuries.
