Turkey: Dispute over mayoral election results continues
Why Turkish President Erdogan’s AK Party is challenging the results of the Istanbul mayor’s counting results.
It has been almost two weeks since Turkey held municipal elections, but the result in its largest city, Istanbul, is still unclear.
Early results put the main opposition mayoral candidate ahead of the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Justice and Development Party (AK Party), which is now challenging the results.
The election is seen as a test of Erdogan’s leadership at a time of growing economic uncertainty.
