US-backed SDF forces launch offensive to drive ISIL from Raqqa

The SDF, an alliance of Kurdish and Arab rebels backed by the US-led coalition, say they’re attacking the city from the east, west and north in an assault to push ISIL out of its operations base in Raqqa.

The SDF, an alliance of Kurdish and Arab rebels backed by the US-led coalition, say they’re attacking the city from the east, west and north in an assault to push the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group out of its operations base in Raqqa.
