China: Thousands of migrant workers evicted without notice

The Chinese government has been defending a campaign that has seen tens of thousands of migrant workers suddenly evicted from their homes in Beijing.

Officials say they will continue to demolish dangerous or illegal properties.

But critics say the operation is part of a plan to reduce Beijing’s population by more than a million.
