Macron leads tributes as crowds attend Johnny Hallyday funeral

More than a million lined the Champs Elysees on Saturday for the funeral procession of the man known as the ‘French Elvis’.

Johnny Hallyday died on Wednesday at the age of 74.

He sold more than 100 million albums, but was relatively unknown outside the country.

At the historic Madelaine church, family, friends and past leaders gathered for a service.

On the steps outside, France’s young president Emmanuel Macron paid tribute.
