Myanmar mass: Pope urges minorities to resist ‘revenge’

For the second day in a row, Pope Francis has avoided using the name of Myanmar’s persecuted Rohingya minority and failed to condemn the country’s military for what the United Nations has called a “textbook example of ethnic cleansing”.

But the Roman Catholic leader preached a message of forgiveness in his first public Mass in Myanmar’s largest city, Yangon. He also called on people to resist the temptation for revenge.
